Trade Facilitation and Agriculture Sector Performance in Sub-Saharan Africa: Insightful Policy Implications for Economic Sustainability

This study investigates the impact of trade facilitation though costs, documents, and time to import export—on agricultural sector performance (ASP) for a panel 33 Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries from 2005 2019. The empirical analysis is based on dynamic system generalized method moments. following findings are established. First, higher significantly improve ASP, while exports negatively ASP. Second, costs promote in products through substitution effects, export impede it. Third, among other factors, improvements human capital, gross fixed capital formation, population growth, openness performance. Fourth, results robustness check further emphasize importance TF ASP various dimensions. concludes that improving procedures by reducing cross-border remains crucial boosting agriculture SSA.
